During his service in the Indian Army and on subsequent superannuation, Major General Sheoran has dedicated his life to creating, perfecting, and fostering a culture that encourages successful strategies of “Getting Things Done”. In addition to being a second-generation ARMY OFFICER who spent his formative years at NDA and then IMA, he has performed admirably in a number of extremely challenging positions, including commanding an Armoured Division, serving in various operational areas, overseeing military operations, and representing high level Government Delegations for sensitive talks with other Nations.
He is well-known for his opinions on the “Evolution of Army Strategy,” which he shared at the renowned MANTHAN Forum. Views on how the Indian Army manages to stay so motivated, piqued the curiosity of many forum members. He continues to highlight the army approach of learning, to individuals and organisations, whilst exercising his free-thinking mind.

Operation Vijay (Kargil, 1999)
During Operation Vijay (Kargil, 1999) he assisted in coordinating operations at the Formation level and briefed the Union Cabinet regularly. This experience led the Army detail him to accompany the then Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, to Washington DC in 2000, for talks with the US State Department and Pentagon.

From 1997 to 2000, he served as a Director in Military Operations Directorate at Army Headquarters and dealt with all operational matters. In 1998 he accompanied the Director General Military Operations (DGMO) to New York for discussions with US interlocutors.
The Deccan Horse
He was commissioned in 1973 after training at NDA and IMA, into The Deccan Horse, one of the oldest Armoured Regiments that was originally raised in 1790. He later commanded the same Regiment and has held various prestigious Command, Staff and Instructional appointments in the Indian Army.
